Trip to the Gobi B

Trip to the Gobi B

A journey to the Takhi in the Great Gobi B broadens your horizon

A unique experience

Travelling to the Gobi B will literally broaden your horizon. You will experience impressive landscapes and a unique flora and fauna, which has adapted to life in this harsh region. The home of the takhi will give you a unique experience of vastness, tranquillity and timelessness.

Rangers from the Great Gobi B SPA Nature Reserve show you the treasures of their homeland. It is impressive how they are able to identify a point close to the horizon as a takhi, gazelle or khulan. Their vast experience and knowledge of living with nature helps visitors to have priceless moments.

Gentle tourism

You will explore the area with rangers who know the vast region like the back of their hand. This makes sure that visitors do not get lost and follow the rules, which are essential for the conservation of such a fragile protected area. At the same time, the limited capacity of overnight accommodation prevents mass tourism and thus negative impacts on nature.

Nevertheless, tourism creates important jobs in the region, which are a welcome source of income for the local population. The Great Gobi B can be visited with a ranger in groups, for study reasons or on individual tours.

Tourist Camp at Takhiin tal

Takhiin tal is an eco-friendly camp situated on the north-eastern border of the Great Gobi B. There are six gers which provide room for 20 guests.

  • All activities in this remote area are consistent with nature and with an economical use of resources
Light in the gers and warm water are provided by solar power
Mongolian kitchen: you can get three meals a day – vegetarian food upon request.
Transport to and from the airports of Khovd or Altai City are possible. Ask for the fees.

Testimonials from GUests

Learning Wild Course in the Gobi B

At first glance, the vast Gobi B appears empty and desolate, but the desert steppe teems with life: plants and animals, and the rare and precious water sources essential to their survival. We were privileged to see dozens of Takhi, Khulan, gazelles and even a juvenile wolf, as well as countless magnificent birds of prey, small reptiles and mammals. The opportunity to observe and learn is unparalleled and unforgettable.

The excellently organized trip in a small and enthusiastic group to the incredible vastness, beauty, and solitude of the Gobi Desert deeply impressed us and exceeded our expectations by far. We were fortunate enough to observe herds of wild horses, khulans, and antelopes. This trip will remain unforgettable.
